The Legal, Risk & Compliance practice of Projective Group Netherlands recently welcomed two new faces at the helm: Danielle Geelen and Adriaan van Verseveld. Both are seasoned professionals with a wealth of knowledge and a healthy dose of enthusiasm. Together, they will continue to expand the practice and support our clients in tackling increasingly complex challenges within the financial sector.
Danielle Geelen – a sharp legal mind with a practical approach
Danielle is an experienced legal & regulatory consultant with a strong focus on the interpretation and implementation of financial legislation and regulation. In recent years, her work has centred on sustainability regulation, including SFDR, MiFID II sustainability preferences, and the prevention of greenwashing.
She has a talent for distilling complex legal material to its essence and translating it into concrete, workable solutions. Whether it involves implementing new ESG rules, drafting legal qualification memoranda, or acting as an interim legal counsel, Danielle combines legal depth with a pragmatic mindset that clients can immediately build on.
After starting her career at Van Lanschot Bankiers, Danielle spent more than ten years as Legal Counsel at InsingerGilissen. Since 2022, she has worked as a consultant—first at Charco & Dique, and now at Projective Group. She also serves as a member of both the Appeals Committee for Banking Disciplinary Law and the Appeals Committee for DSI Disciplinary Law.
Outside of work, Danielle is always on the move. A passionate Formula 1 fan, she has often been spotted at the Zandvoort circuit in recent years. She is also a mother of two, coach of her daughter’s volleyball team, and, together with her partner, a proud dog owner of Sammie.
Adriaan van Verseveld – compliance expert with a forensic flair
While Danielle excels in legal precision, Adriaan is a master at untangling complex compliance issues. With more than twenty years of experience at organisations including ASR, Achmea Bank and the Blauwtrust Group, he knows the compliance landscape inside out.
Adriaan specialises in regulatory compliance, compliance risk management, financial crime prevention and forensic investigations. He is renowned for his ability to get to the heart of an issue quickly, maintain oversight, and rebuild trust with regulators. His pragmatic approach and skill in combining in-depth content with clear stakeholder communication make him a reliable and valued sparring partner.
Beyond his professional life, Adriaan volunteers as a board member for Stichting Ambulance Wens. Representing the foundation, he will be running the Roparun from Paris to Rotterdam next year. As a lifelong Sparta supporter, he can often be found in the stands in Rotterdam—or abroad on a football trip, most recently at the Real Madrid – Espanyol match.
