As financial institutions accelerate their use of AI, the challenge is shifting. The technology is advancing rapidly, but turning that potential into better transaction monitoring, fraud prevention and AML requires more than another AI pilot.
It requires the right data foundations, clear governance and accountability, and an operating model in which technology and human judgement reinforce each other.

Hamid will bring the Data & AI perspective, looking at how financial institutions can move from fragmented detection models towards connected, intelligence-led FEC capabilities – and what is needed to move AI out of experimentation and into core operations.
Suzanne will bring the perspective from within the bank. Together, they will discuss where technology can strengthen FEC in practice, where human judgement remains essential, and how financial institutions can innovate while maintaining explainability, accountability and trust.
Because the real opportunity is not simply to use more AI. It is to turn better data and technology into stronger controls, measurable outcomes and better customer protection.
The session is part of Amsterdam Fintech Event 2026, taking place on 7–8 October at the World Trade Center Amsterdam.
