From complex project to guided change – creating the mission is-possible

The challenge

The financial institution was reshaping its sales model, but our client lacked a clear starting point for effective change management.

Our approach

  • Training: A one-day session on change management fundamentals was developed to the client needs. Keywords were hand-on and pragmatism based on real life challenges. The outcome: each participant left with a first draft of their change management plan within just one day of intensive training.
  • Mission is-possible podcast: Next up: execution. Among other change initiatives, we launched a project podcast: each month, a team member shared insights about their role, current developments and key focus areas. Episodes lasted no more than 20 minutes and quickly became a recurring topic during teams’ stand-ups or weekly kick-offs.
  • Gallery walk: MT gallery walks were organised to optimise knowledge transition across MT’s in the organisation in one afternoon. In a museum-like setting, workstreams presented their activities and risks on visually designed posters. MT members walked through the presentations and asked questions. This approach proved highly effective for knowledge sharing and decision-making.

Key results

  • Through a combination of creativity, strategic communication and close collaboration, employees’ attention was secured, significantly increasing the likelihood of lasting behavioural change.
  • The involvement of a competent change manager and a well-thought-out plan formed the foundation for successful change. Their role as change management ambassadors strengthens the adoption of new ways of working and increases support within the organisation.

Large transformations often begin with strong ambition but keeping people aligned and motivated throughout the journey is rarely straightforward. When an organisation redesigns processes, roles or ways of working, teams face uncertainty, pressure and a constant stream of new information. Without the right support, engagement quickly drops and the impact of the transformation weakens.

This is exactly where structured, hands‑on change management proves its value. By combining clear communication, practical training and creative interventions, you can transform a complex project into a mission that people recognise, understand and actively support. The example below shows how such an approach helped one client turn a major transition into a guided and engaging journey.

Starting the transformation - building the foundation for change

At a dutch financial institution, a large-scale project was underway aimed at redefining the sales model. Based on previous experiences, our client realised that effective change management would be crucial for the initiative’s success. The question was not if change management was needed, but how to start in a way that brings people along from day one.

To provide structure and clarity, we developed a one‑day training session on change management fundamentals tailored to the client’s reality. The focus was entirely on hands‑on methods and pragmatic tools grounded in real-life challenges. By the end of the day, each participant walked away with the first version of their own change management plan. Created, tested, and ready to refine.

Creative interventions that strengthen engagement

Mission is‑possible podcast
As the project moved into execution, we launched the “Mission Is‑Possible” podcast. Every month, a team member shared updates about their role, current developments and key focus points. Episodes stayed under 20 minutes and quickly became part of team routines, regularly mentioned during stand-ups or weekly kick-offs.

The podcast created transparency, strengthened ownership, and made the project feel more accessible to everyone involved.

MT Gallery Walks
We also introduced MT Gallery Walks to speed up knowledge sharing across management teams. In a museum-like setup, workstreams presented their activities and key risks on visually designed posters. MT members walked through the room, asked questions, and documented decisions. This simple format proved very effective in aligning leaders and reinforcing collective accountability.

Impact on engagement and adoption
The effect of the combined approach was clear. Through creativity, consistent communication and close collaboration, we secured employees’ attention and strengthened the foundations for lasting behavioural change.

A skilled change manager and a well-prepared plan ensured that the organisation moved together instead of in silos. Their role as change ambassadors increased support, reinforced engagement, and helped embed new ways of working across the organisation.

During internal community calls, the wider organisation recognised this approach as a best practice. Several interventions were adopted in other countries, proving the scalability and effectiveness of the programme.

Change management is not an afterthought

Change management deserves a place at the core of every transformation. Involving your change manager early, and giving change the attention it requires, increases the chances of success and builds long‑term impact.
