At Projective Group, we believe giving back and supporting others is essential for the wellbeing of our people, our business, and the communities we are part of. So much so that we chose ‘selflessness’ as one of our three core company values, and this is something we aim to embody and encourage in our work and beyond.
Recently, our teams have set up and taken part in a number of initiatives that support this mission and help us give back to local communities and charities. These include team volunteering days, a month of Movember fundraising, and a variety of donation projects across our different offices. Discover more about each of them below.
Every year we schedule dedicated volunteering days that we encourage everyone to join, and this year was no different. We find that these days are not only an important way of giving back to our local community, but also an excellent opportunity to spend time together and strengthen connections within our teams outside of the office.
This year – for the first time – we partnered with The Felix Project, London’s largest food redistribution charity. Their mission is to fight food waste and hunger by rescuing good, surplus food from the food industry (that cannot be sold and would otherwise go to waste) and turning it into delicious meals for homeless and vulnerable members of the community.
Our Projective Group volunteers were assigned one of three roles, including Warehouse Assistant, Co-Driver, and Kitchen Assistant, who all worked together to ensure a smooth and safe process was followed to collect, sort and cook the food throughout the day. As well as their hard work, we were pleased to raise over £1,300 for The Felix Project at our staff Christmas raffle.
“This year we were thrilled to partner with The Felix Project for our annual volunteering day. Not only did we contribute to tackling food waste and supporting our community, but we also strengthened our team bonds by working together on meaningful tasks. It’s inspiring to see what we can achieve together and we’re proud to have supported such an important cause.” – Aurelia Darii
Plus, in Belgium we spent the day in a centre dedicated to caring for people with disabilities. Our consultants helped to create content for an internal platform called ‘Dag Panda’ (translated as Hi Panda), including things like a how-to video on building a wooden bird shelter or time lapses to help demonstrate how to do the dishes.
Dag Panda was developed specifically for young people who face barriers to safely go online or who struggle to find connection with physical day support. It’s a space to meet others, learn, and relax, filled with cool content created by a fascinating team of professional partners, other Panda vloggers and now also Projective Group’ers.
Projective Group recently partnered with Movember, a charity that supports men’s mental health whilst raising awareness for prostate and testicular cancer. For the second year running, Projective Group organised a number of initiatives to raise funds for Movember, beating last year’s total by raising nearly £2,400.
Our UK office was proud to host an event dedicated to Movember, where a diverse panel made up of members from our team discussed personal and pertinent elements of men’s mental health. The panel graciously shared their unique experiences, challenges, and gratitude for the support their communities have offered them. As the evening continued, the panel also opened the floor up to the audience to discuss how we can collectively create a supportive environment for everyone.
As well as encouraging important conversations, we also raised funds by converting the (usually free) Projective Group bar into ‘Mo’s bar’, where guests made a donation for every drink they had during the evening. Plus, throughout the whole month of November, some of our team also took on tough physical challenges to help boost fundraising, including daily exercises of 100 press-ups, a 10-minute plank, and some even conquering a 10k run!
“Our Movember initiatives have, in my opinion, broken down walls in the workplace that have stood for years. It is brilliant to create an environment where we can share personal experiences and not be judged. Hopefully, following a successful month, the men in Projective Group feel they are supported for any health challenges they may face.” – Navraj Uppal
Across the Projective Group offices, we have also recently set up several donation projects in partnership with local charities, where we have collected high quality items to support different causes. These include:
