When we started working with our client, a global automotive bank, they were at an important crossroads. Their business was strong offering asset‑based loans to individual customers, car dealers, and wholesale partners with a deposit business in the UK. But the market was evolving fast. New digital players entered the financial services space, and customer expectations shifted. The bank knew it needed to modernise and use data in a much smarter way to stay competitive.
Strong ambition, complex reality
The client was looking to modernise its bank using data to create more direct customer offerings to compete with new market entrants. However, like many traditional players, they had to contend with a legacy infrastructure. Data within the organisation was siloed. With increases in regulatory demands and numerous audit points, we were engaged to develop and implement a Data strategy. The bank needed a clear Data Strategy to break through these barriers and enable a new way of working.
Building the global data foundation
We helped the client design, implement, and later refresh a multi‑year Data Management strategy covering Europe, the US, and China. This included a full delivery roadmap and a supporting business and benefits case, which helped the client secure the necessary funds to achieve their ambitions.
We then developed the foundational Data Management capabilities needed to support their strategic business objectives. This covered Data Governance, Data Quality and Business Data Architecture. Alongside this, we implemented and enhanced technical solutions for data cataloguing, data governance, data quality, and MDM and, importantly, ensured these solutions were successfully adopted and used in practice.
Driving enterprise-wide adoption
Beyond managing the programme and providing boots on the ground, our critical differentiator was Business Adoption.
The client needed support to implement and embed their new Data Management strategy across the enterprise (6,400+ employees) and move towards their vision of a “Data way of working”. Projective Group took full ownership of the implementation, applying the principles of Prosci’s industry‑recognised ADKAR framework.
To make this sustainable, we built a community of Data Champions within the client’s data team. They supported training and adoption activities and helped drive awareness of the data strategy throughout the organisation. We also created a long‑term communications approach to reinforce key messages and maintain visibility.
In parallel, we designed and built a critical data‑skills training pathway. This included eLearning for all employees, helping them grow from data consumers into more capable data experts. To support the launch, we created an internal campaign and aligned it with additional upskilling resources, such as video training materials that we also produced.
Sustainable adoption& measurable business impact
More than 200 employees completed the training before we handed the responsibility over to the Data Champions. This ensured that adoption continued smoothly across the organisation and remained By strengthening the organisation’s ability to qualify and deliver data solutions, the client achieved clear and measurable results:
